/var/log/dist-upgrade/term.log is empty.

Also, it just occurred to me that I should mention how I ran the upgrade process. I manually mounted /dev/cdrom0 as /media/cdrom and ran sudo /dev/cdrom/cdromupgrade. The auto-run failed to start because the CD auto-mounted as a pathname with spaces in it (/media/Ubuntu 7.10 amd64/).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I have not upgraded in a long time. Instead of upgrading, I reinstalled (to get the 32bit version for easier compatibility with some non-Free software I need to use for work, etc).

I think you can close this issue report now.
