Failed to download repository information

After clean install Ubuntu 16.04 update manager have error "Failed to download repository information" and crash. Afrer that I can see and install update.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I get the same thing. "Failed to download repository information. Check your internet connection." Every single time. If you click "Settings" then "Close" (with the new window) the software updater will magically update and either offer new updates to download or say "The software on this computer is up to date."

Same for me, except that no new window pops up, but software updater will update itself.

for a while I thought it was just the kxstudio repo wasn't reachable because it looked like that was where it was hanging up but I removed those repos and got the same results so add me to the club.
