no horizontal scroll bar

Bug #139663 reported by Joseph Price on 2007-09-14
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
Software Updater
update-manager (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

update-manager has a vertical scroll bar but not a horizontal one.

This means that if I want to view one of the longer packagenames-version that I need to enlarge the window, instead of imo preferable scrolling.

update-manager 1:0.73

Ah sorry, I should have been more clear :)

I'm talking about the very first view you are presented with, after starting update-manager up, headed "Keep your system up to date" (or "Your system is up-to-date" if all updates are installed)

Hi Joseph
just have some updates to do and can notice what you're saying, but in my case the window auto resize to fit the longest name, but then again the longest name wasn't that long, so i cannot confirm this issue yet. could you please attach a screenshot showing this behaviour with a very long name where the usability of this application is affected.

Just downgraded something to get update-manager to show this.

Obviously when there are more packages, the vertical scrollbar appears, however I think it should be consistent and show the horizontal scrollbar at the bottom so you can see the full information on the package without resizing the window.

By the way, it isn't auto resizing for me as you described.

in which version of the update-manager are you experience this?, just to have enough information to confirm the bug.
