message:
Drop obsolete gobject compatibility and gtkwidgets

The static pygobject bindings and the GTK 2 widgets have long been obsolete and
unmaintained, and there are no reverse dependencies to them any more in Ubuntu.

This certainly seems fixed in Vivid although the error buckets is strange as it shows people reporting this crash from recent releases with a Trusty version of aptdaemon.

Changed in aptdaemon (Ubuntu):
status: Triaged → Fix Released
Changed in update-manager (Ubuntu):
status: Triaged → Invalid
no longer affects: update-manager
