Bug Description
Binary package hint: debian-installer
I upgraded to 7.04 (Feisty Fawn), but the upgrade failed in the middle because /boot filled up. I had about 5 kernels (I had diligently upgraded when update-manager suggested, but had never thought to remove old versions), and the folks who pre-installed Ubuntu on my laptop created a very small /boot partition.
During the recovery, at one point it *did* say I couldn't continue because /boot was full. It sure would have been nice if the upgrader had checked that before I started the process. It took me a while to get the system working again, and there is no way a non-technical user could have recovered on their own.
Summary: Before upgrading, installer should check to make sure there is "enough" space available on /boot
