"Broken unity:i386 Depends on compiz-core-abiversion-20120927" and "Broken unity:amd64 Depends on compiz-core-abiversion-20120927" errors are causing the quantal to raring desktop upgrade failures.
As could be noticed this error occurs on both amd64 and i386 desktop upgrades.
1. Install quantal desktop
2. use do-release-upgrade to upgrade to raring
