kernel update failed to include nvidia module, no GUI

After updating from 3.2.0-30-generic to 3.2.0-31-generic, the nvidia module was not found, and the system failed to boot into X with GUI.

Reran grub update. now boots into 3.2.0-32-generic, same result.

If I run the previous kernel, 3.2.0-30-generic, 12.04 runs as usual.

It runs the 304 nvidia drivers, as shown in the attached screenshot of NVIDIA Settings.

A subsequent Ubuntu update has resolved this.
