Hi turul69,

that are bad news.

The ubuntu-release-upgrader should be one of the most reliable programs we have here.

Sorry, for the inconvenience.

Could you help us on further handling here.

I am a bit in doubt that this report is on the correct package.

ubuntu-release-upgrader is first indroduced with Ubuntu12.04.

Before that it was just the update-manager that must do all the job.

I changed the package for this.

affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) → update-manager (Ubuntu)

Mhh, yes

we need some logs here.

Can you provide?

You may want to run

apport-collect 1068297

from termianl(if there are any missed libraries for the process, please install them).

There should also be a folder

/var/log/dist-upgrade

could you compress that folder and attach it here?

In fact that folder might be more important than the apoort procedure. You might be forced to call

gksu nautilus

because the folder is owned by root(may be also the same for firefox to upload).

One more step it is there I have to request.

Please give a step by step description like pushing this button, choosing that, waiting for, and so on). Give a good algorithmic description, that is complete and can guide a beginner.

(step1,
 step2,
.
.
.
finished)

After that set the status of this report back to new.

Thanks

Hi,

You ask me to send you some logs and step by step description after 5 (FIVE) months ???!!!

Cannot do this.

You can close this issue.

Yes, I know.

It was not to expect that you still have the logs.

But I have had to ask.

Sorry,

but bug triaging is mostly community driven(I am not paied by canonical), so the delays are more often huge than it is good for the distribution.

Anyway,

that above where the standard questions.

I would like to invest some of my time to investigate this a bit further.

Can you try to help me.

What have you done with your system. Are there some specific Software that you have installed that you expect not to much other users have too.

So some hints would be enough.

greetings

melchiaros

(Sorry, when I have blamed you)

Hi melchiaros,

Sorry for my first irritation.

I would like to help you but is very hard to me to remember the exact situation. Probably I had a lot of unusual packages installed on my system because I like to experiment (development, image & video editing).
I cannot remember and now is too late to verify because I use an other distro.

One thing is sure: the upgrade was from 12.04 to 12.10 and not from 10.04 to 10.10

Best regards.
