You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance. I am pretty sure that this is a duplicate of a race condition in the apt cron job that removes old downloaded packages. This is fixed now in update-manager (in hardy). Please reopen if that is still a issue.
