The new 'Software Updater' doesn't provide any active links to a changelog which the previous update manager did when the changelogs could be directly displayed, (Which is all the time recently

Could you please start update-manager from the terminal and see if hovering the mouse over the changelog viewer prints an exception? I guess this might be a duplicate of bug #1009859, if it happens to you too. wiki.ubuntu. com/BugSquad
