Scope isn't populated, virtually no apps can successfully open

Bug Description

scope just shows 'Manage', nothing else
No gnome apps will open, either close immediately or windows shows blue spinning 'cursor' forever
Only webbrowser, terminal & libreoffice apps open

error for all apps would be like in screenshot (files
scope is also shown, this is how it opens,i.e. empty, nothing to do..

The empty scope bug is bug #1668700 - we've deprecated the click scope since it's replaced by the left-hand side "app drawer".

As for launching apps, that'd be bug #1675364.
