App switcher crashes unity8 with MeshLab

Please install the meshlab-mardy snap. This Qt application works fine in unity7, and actually mostly works in unity8 too. However, as soon as it starts, for some reason it creates a secondary black window for a few seconds (title being something like "MeshLab_64bit"), which then gets closed shortly after the main window appears. This works fine in unity7.

However, in unity8, this secondary window never closes. Also, the splashscreen window is never closed, and its spinner continues rotating.

But the real problem comes when pressing "Alt+Tab": the task switcher appears for a second, then unity8 restarts.

I'm using unity8-desktop-session (therefore classic Ubuntu) in VirtualBox.
