Bug Description
It seems there's no plan to support application indicators for Unity8
I have an application called rsibreak https:/
It tells you to stop typing/using the mouse for 20 seconds after every 10 minutes of use.
Basically the application has no window, just a statistics dialog and a configure dialog.
The "view" of the application is the application indicator that contains a graphic display that shows how much time is left for the next break.
If we don't support application indicators the user will not see anything after he launches the application.

One approach that, I believe, was originally considered for Unity7, was to move the functionality into the launcher "quicklists" - right-click context menus on launcher icons.
