Bug Description

hplip is a common set of tools to manage HP printers. The tools fail to start on unity8 and the indicator is not displayed in the top panel.

This means the snap does not include the mir QPA and/or doesn't connect to mir-libs?

Not a unity8 bug.

As a separate thing, no support for application indicators was planned in unity8.

Sorry, wrong bug I commented on, however, we'll need the output from unity8.log to try and see why the app was rejected.

Are you launching it from the terminal? That's not supported, you need to run it from the app drawer or via ubuntu-app-launch.

Find the app id with:
$ ubuntu-app-launch-appids

And launch:
$ ubuntu-app-launch <app_id>

It does not work from the app drawer either, that's the 1rst thing I tried. I'll attach more logs.

It "starts" from the app drawer here, but you get an empty translucent window
