Bug Description

It should save the last session and suggest that one.

On an *existing* installation of Yakkety I'm seeing the last saved session being displayed correctly.

Using 64-bit ISO 20161008 I'm seeing the last session saved correctly when logging out of Unity8 but the icon is for Unity7. Logging back in logs into Unity8.

So the last session is saved correctly, it's just the icon that in incorrect.

@Paul note there is a new greeter available now - in the unity8-greeter package, coming from unity8.

affects: unity-greeter (Ubuntu) → unity8 (Ubuntu)

Josh, did you ever see this behavior when testing the session chooser? As I recall, lightdm itself saves the session used and tells us which it is.

@mterry The greeter gets this information from whatever LightDM says the "default" session is. Perhaps logging into an alternative DE doesn't update this information? I'll patch it and add a test.

status: Confirmed → In Progress
