Bug Description
When the screen dims a tap to restore brightness is also processed by the underlying component. This is consistent with Android but not how iOS behaves which is preferred by several users.
------ UX comment ------
As the bug description suggests, a tap on the dimmed screen should simply wake up the phone into the full lit state. This means no action should be triggered.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I'd like to see this implemented as well. It's weird to respond to screen taps when you really can't see what you're tapping on well due to the dimmed screen.

Hi, if this had a fix committed way back in September, is there a reason why it's still not released? For now, I'm assuming the spec was updated but no code has been written?
Today's build still activates whatever the user tapped, instead of just bumping the brightness back up and resetting the dimming timer.

Hi Selene,
you're correct: ubuntu-ux is the task for the Design team. When ubuntu-ux is "Fix committed" it means that Design team has provided the design for the solution to the problem.
The implementation is responsibility of Unity8, and that is still "Confirmed".

As another data point BB10 behaves like iOS in this regard.
