Does it never start or does it not start quickly enough? If it doesn't start at all, can you please check:

$ initctl status unity8-dash

And ~/.cache/upstart/unity8-dash.log and syslog for any interesting log entries.

Also, what is "not good enough"? People have been successfully running unity8 on netbook computers with a lowly Atom processor and little RAM.

Changed in unity8 (Ubuntu):

no,it start,but not start quickly enough
1.ctrl+alt+f1
2.sudo service lightdm restart (i donot know why "sudo restart lightdm "does not work,maybe this cause dash restart slowly)
3.quickly input password
4.you "may" see what the bug describes

That's because of the migration to systemd.

OK so the problem is really the same as bug #1439615 - when no dash,
wallpaper black.
