Bug Description

This page has information about what to do:

$ mkdir ~/unity8
$ sudo apt-get install bzr
$ bzr branch lp:unity8 ~/unity8/trunk
$ cd ~/unity8/trunk

I installed the cmake packages, becase they was not installed.

I need to install dependencies, so I run the recommended command:
$ ./build --setup
Which runs a sudo apt-get update and tries to install some packages, but apt-get writes (in danish text, my english translation follows):

Bemærk, vælger »qtdeclarative5-unity-notifications-plugin« fremfor »unity-notifications-impl«
E: Kunne ikke lokalisere pakken pay-service
E: Kunne ikke lokalisere pakken qml-module-qtquick-xmllistmodel

which roughly translates to:

Note, selects »qtdeclarative5-unity-notifications-plugin« instead of »unity-notifications-impl«
E: Could not find the pay-service package
E: Could not find the qml-module-qtquick-xmllistmodel package

Sorry, we can't support building on trusty, it'd hinder our development, because we'd have to maintain all the new dependencies backported.

If you don't want to upgrade to full utopic, you can always install it in a VM, chroot or LXC and compile in there.

Changed in unity8:
status: New → Won't Fix

I just had the exact same problem and lost time on it. Would be helpful to at least update the referenced page, saying that only 14.10 is supported as of now, to avoid more people trying to figure out why this is not working.
