There doesn't appear any log in path ~/.cache/upstart/unity8-mir.log

I have discovered that when lightdm appears again it's possible to press the ESC key to make the login buttons appear again, but also appears "Unsuccesful Authentication" (translated from italian "Autenticazione non riuscita"). It seems to me a problem with lightdm too. I am then able to restart lightdm and login to unity7 or unity8 X session. If you need some logs to help debug I am available.

The first time I found this bug is on Ubuntu 14.10. I was hopping that it could be solved in 15.04, but the bug still occurred in the latest distribution. Is it a possible reason that I run the image on the virtual machine?

It renders the system temporarily or permanently unusable.

+ mir-session doesn't load

Folks, let's not confuse bugs here. This bug was originally reported against unity8-desktop-session-mir and not unity8-preview-lxc, ie, unity8-lxc. These are 2 different packages.

The logs attached in comment #11 are for using unity8-lxc, so they don't really apply to this bug.

If you are using unity8-lxc, please file a new bug report against that project. If you having this issue with the unity8-desktop-session-mir package, please use this bug report.

Thanks!

Is there any workaround to continue testing Unity 8 desktop?
The system became inaccessible for me.

I have the same problem (unity8-desktop-session-mir). I tried also unity8-lxc and found the same bug.
No unity8 log was found under .cache/upstart/

I'm running ubuntu 16.04 inside virtualbox

VirtualBox doesn't support Mir so there is no point in trying Unity 8 in this program.

Some logs for your perusal. unity8.log did not exist.

intel pineview users: see bug 1549455
