Many programs such as Nautilus, Firefox, and Google Chrome have keyboard shortcuts in the form of:
Alt + Left
Alt + Right
Alt + Up
Alt + Down
When I use these keyboard shortcuts, in addition to the expected behavior within the program I'm using, Unity's HUD is displayed. Frustratingly, the HUD steals my keyboard focus, blocking subsequent key presses from reaching the program I'm trying to use.
The result is that, where I used to press:
Alt + ( Left, Left, Left )
I now have to make more than double the number of keystrokes and carefully watch my timing:
Alt + Left, [wait for HUD to appear], Alt, [wait for HUD to disappear], Alt + Left, [wait for HUD to appear], Alt, [wait for HUD to disappear], Alt + Left, [wait for HUD to appear], Alt, [wait for HUD to disappear]
