Drag and drop to upload box not working

It's related to Unity 3D. Firefox and Nautilus are open. I opened my Pictures folder and tried to drag and drop a pic onto a mediafire.com upload area. I dragged the pic to the FF icon on the launcher, but FF did not open... When I dropped it on the FF icon, it opened in a new tab. I expected FF to open when hovering on it's icon on the launcher. Only then can I drop the pic on the upload box.
