Bug Description

For Ubuntu 12.04 compiz crashes on login. This effects unity 3D and any of the login options that use compiz.
I essentially get the same errors reported in this url:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1966002

This is a segfault in compiz.

I have not found the appropriate associated bug report.
I am using the nvidia proprietary drivers and have downloaded the latest ubuntu supported updates.
(nvidia-current 295.40-0ubuntu1)

The net effect is that I do not have any 3D support for my desktop in ubuntu 12.04.

One interesting this is that unity 3d DOES work if I log in as guest. Why would this be?
What is different in the default parameter sets between the two logins?

Also this appears to be a duplicate of this bug:

Matt, if the problem only applies to one account then please try logging into that account and running: unity --reset
Then log out and in again.
