white line next to the Unity launcher after update 3-25-2012

After todays update to unity 5.8 (3-25-2012) I noticed a white line from top to bottom of the Unity launcher.
On applications like Firefox, Thunderbird and Chromium there is a white line visible on the top left of the program where the skin is black.
I also noticed that The yellow glow of Compiz when dragging a window to the left is one pixel more to the right than it should be.

I get this too when bug 963093 occurs.

I think it is not a complete duplicate of bug 963093, I do not have Flickering and corruption on Unity UI elements.
Only a white line from top to bottom. (and no animation on move hover, someone mention that in the comment of the other bug but I'm not sure of that is a bug) I did a unity --reset and the line is still there.

Maybe it's related but I'm not sure.

ps. the white line will not appear when set on auto hide.

I did a reinstall of Ubuntu 12.04 and the white line was no longer there.

But after using compiz setting the white line is back.

I did change:
Backlight mode: backlight toggle,
Panel Opacity to 0.5300
Launcher Opacity to 0,8007
Panel Opacity for maximised windows toggle to on.

I don't know what settings did the white line to appear again, but changing the settings back to default don't work.

Am i the only one that have this problem??

The white line is probably the unity rendering issue with overdraw and incorrect damage. It causes a couple of different bugs but most people don't see any of them.

I have a special branch of compiz which exposes all the unity rendering bugs (and in other plugins), however it is not in any official ubuntu release yet. Obviously, because it triggers all the plugin's bugs :)

My nohow on this matter is not that great so...

Can i do anything, to fix/repair Unity?
Or is it a real bug that someone have to fix.

I see this exact same thing in Ubuntu 14.04, with no other rendering or otherwise problems. Is there anything I can do to fix it? It's really an eyesore.

The line is still there for me on Ubuntu 14.04. However, a similar (possibly duplicate) bug report was set to "Won't fix" because apparently the white line is a design feature: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1373118

The rationale for the inclusion of the line eludes me however.
