Martin, I don't seem to be able to reproduce the issue here with latest unity from staging ppa. Is that still an issue for you?

Yes, this is still the issue. I still have no USB stick launcher icon with 5.8.0-0ubuntu1.

I bet the that wont be happening in the guest session. Sounds some config/session issue to me.

I can confirm I can _not_ reproduce in guest session.

Then it's clearly not a Unity bug. Try checking your autorun settings in the System Info thing in System Settings. Also, check if you have any other file manager installed that's fiddling around with this.

Closing bug since this isn't a bug with Unity.

thank you for your bug report, are the devices correctly listed in the computer: place in nautilus? could you copy a gvfs-mount -li log with a device connected?

Yes, I can see the device in nautilus (even though with some weird icon -- see the screenshot).

seems like an unity bug to me, but since that's user config specific that's a bit weird, reassigning there for debug anyway, the drive is correctly listed by gvfs and nautilus

I'm using 12.04 Unity 5.20.

When I insert an audio CD, I get the dialog window asking me what I want to do. If I close or cancel that dialog window, then the CD icon disappears from the launcher.

This only happens with audio CD's. If I insert a data CD then the icon stays in the launcher because when I insert a data CD, nautilus opens and even if I close nautilus, the CD icon stays in the launcher.
