Bug Description
Unity writes the 'average-bg-color' key in dconf whenever the background changes and also on login. dconf is not an IPC mechanism nor is it a good place for transient state information and particularly the write on login leads to increased boot time (because the dconf-service must be started).
Please find another way of dealing with this. A property on the root window might make sense.
