It's not that important for being SRUed I think, but porting it should be easy... Patches welcome! ;)

Marco, I am not trying to offend anyone and having said that I do not understand the logic. You are saying it is important enough to fix for an upcoming release ofr Unity which will be in 13.04 but it is not important enough to fix for 12.04. This was a bug in 12.04 not 13.04. It should be fixed in 12.04 especially since 12.04 is a LTS.

Aritchie: I didn't considered this bug so much important for 12.04 since it is triggered on a more rarely used scenario, while it was more important in 13.04 since the new shutdown dialogues highly highlighted it.

However, I'll check the feasibility of backporting this patch to 12.04.

So, it seems that will arrive with next SRU in 12.04 as well... ;)

Hello Adolfo, or anyone else affected,

Accepted unity into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/5.20.0-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
Unity 5.20.0 "SRU-4"

The label "Ubuntu Desktop" still disappears and the menu still does not appear when I hover the mouse over the panel a few seconds after login but the shadow no longer disappears. It no longer disappears after hitting "Alt-F1". I can click on the desktop to get the "Ubuntu Desktop" label and the desktop menu back on the panel.

Artichie, this bug is not much about the "Ubuntu Destkop" label, but the shadow underneath the panel.

Aritchie (aritchie) wrote :

The menu is part of this though and this all happened at the same time. I do agree the label is not a big deal. The menu though is. The bug with the menu appeared at the same time as the "shadow" bug. All this was working as it should from the start. These issues got introduced from updates to the system over the last year or so.
