Bug Description

Fully up to date.

HUD feels unresponsive. There are times when pressing ALT to activate HUD and nothing happens. I press ALT again, and HUD appears. Them, press ALT again, and HUD stays on screen. Press ALT a 4th time and it disappears.

There are also times when I cannot get HUD to display at all. I continually press the ALT key and nothing.

And, lastly, when I do get HUD to activate on first ALT, it feels laggy. I would expect it to be near instantaneous, but there is a perceptual lag to when I key down ALT and when HUD appears.

Hey, thanks for the bug

Are you sure that you are tapping alt quick enough? this could simply be a case of not quite being used to the speed needed to tap alt. Sounds like its worth putting in a CCSM option to configure that to the users liking.

Second issue just sounds like your talking about the fade in of the HJD which is the same as the dash fadein - I would think that design would need to comment on wheather the HUD should fade in or not

Marking incomplete to: wait for design feedback on the fade-in effect, and for Jason to confirm the speed at which he hits the alt key. The latter being maybe another feedback for design to consider.

I intended to report this very bug, but on reading and further checking it appears I was just not tapping the key fast enough to activate HUD. (Of course I can't say if the same is true of the OPs instance). A CCSM control would be helpful I think (if anything it would alert the user to the need for swiftly releasing the key).

Having a keypress behave differently based on the time it's held seems rather unintuitive to me - just a new paradigm allowing multi use of the button huh?

removing 'also affects' ayatana-design because this is not a design issue

(HUD should be activated on ALT tap with *exactly* the same timing/fade in parameters used to display the Dash when SUPER is taped)

Thanks for the bug report Jason. Since the issue was reported during early development of HUD could you now retest and let us know if the issue is fixed in Ubuntu 12.04 + all updates installed.
