Bug Description

Neither the "Dash Home" nor "Workplace Switcher" icons can be removed from the Unity Launcher. I have installed an alternative workplace switcher, and use the super key to access the Dash, so neither of these icons are useful to me. They should be removeable, and are not.

proposed solution
after bug 761155 is fixed add a gsettings key to allow the removal of BFB from launcher

Dash home won't be removeable(and should not be removable) but WS switcher will be in 12.04 see bug 761155

Can you point me to an explanation of *why* the Dash home "should not be removable" please? Or is this just design and branding? Thanks

to my thinking if Dash home is allowed to remove and the user dont know about the "Super" key, he is lost.

I agree. And so I would not propose that it be the default, or even that it necessarily be provided as a GUI option. However, I would still expect this to be configurable via gsettings, rather than being (apparently) hardcoded in the Unity launcher.

Anyone interested in this feature could propose a branch with tests and I believe the feature will likely get accepted.
