Using alt-tab after switching to the desktop doesn't bring you back where you were

Using 4.24.0 from oneiric-proposed:
- open several softwares
- select one
- use alt-tab and select "desktop"
- do "alt-tab"
- it should bring you back to what was on screen before the "show desktop" call but it doesn't

This non-intuitive behaviour had me confused too.

After Alt-Tabbing to "Show Desktop", why do the other apps' icons disappear from the Switcher when I select an app? They reappear when I Alt+Tab tob to "Show Desktop" twice more?! They don't appear to be normally minimized since I have the "Show minimized windows in Switcher" ticked.

I'd prefer to be able to turn of "Show Desktop" from Switcher and to turn it on in the Unity panel, since I keep unintentionally Alt-Tabbing to it. This is regardless of this odd behaviour.

I made a video to demonstrate what happens, but it has another issue too, and I don't know if there are some bug like this on launchpad. Sometimes, when you select "Show Desktop" ("Mostrar Área de Trabalho" in portuguese) in the alt-tab, it doesn't minimize windows and neither shows the desktop. Step to reproduce:

-- open many apps
-- minimize all windows with "Show Desktop" in the alt-tab
-- use alt-tab to select some app (maybe one or more)
-- use "Show Desktop" again

I second Jonathan Sambrook and add that I ALWAYS need to do Alt+TAB twice to even get to show the desktop. This is very annoying.

Any updates on this app switching bug?
This bug has been around for almost 2 years, and it is current in latest ubuntu 13.04 release as well.
