I don't have this problem when entering text elsewhere. (It seems like Dash might be making some tap/press distinction and only responding to key presses in the search box, which is terribly bad behavior. Users should be able to type quickly when using the search box.) | Sometimes the dash search box does not respond to typing. Other times it does respond, but only if you type very slowly. When this problem is happening, you can switch to a different window (text editor, etc.) and type normally. Hence it is not a problem with the keyboard or with X.
