Bug Description

When I close an app, there is no application (nor the desktop) that has the focus.

This causes desktop shortcuts to not work.

For example:
- Open gedit
- Close gedit using the x in the upperleft corner
- try to switch workspaces with ctrl - alt - arrows

This does nothing, it does work after you've clicked the desktop once.

It also could be related to this bug:

- appmenu keep showing the title for a closed or minimized window [https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/743588]
Especially this comment: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/743588/comments/11

However some different details. Also this happened to me from day one of my clean oneiric install, and it was present on a previous installation of oneiric beta too.

Ok,

the bug is definitly related to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/743588 (which has not seen activity since natty)

Scenario 1: When I open gedit, and close it immediatly (without typing anything), the title disappears but the desktop does not get the focus

Scenario 2: When I open gedit, typ something, close without saving (and therefore letting a model dialog close the app) the title "gedit" remains in the panel, even after it was closed. (as the similar bug report mentions)

Result of both: I need to click on the desktop to get back back focus on the desktop and be able to use shortcuts like alt + f2 and ctrl-alt-arrows

I'll upload both the scenario's as video.

Please note that "Bureaublad" is dutch for "Desktop"

As you were replying I was investigating the problem too. I found the solution, it was not related to unity sorry...

I was using conky and failed to mention this. I have found a workaround. Set this in the .conkyrc config file:

"own_window_type override"

And the problem is solved

Sorry for the trouble

should I close the bug as its not an issue for you and caused by conky?
