Bug Description

I have found when logging in as a user and attempting to run a command with Alt+F2 I am presented with the Dash menu instead of the Run Command one. Subsequent attempts are fine though.

Reproducible Steps:

Login as Guest
Press Alt-F2
Expect to see Run Command but instead see Dash search menu
Exit from Dash Menu
Press Alt-F2 again
Run Command menu now appears

This issue only occurs once at first login and after that Alt-F2 works as expected i.e opening Run Command.

Ah just realised I forgot to add this is from testing Oneiric.

The reason I changed it to confirmed was that I had tested with a fresh install with Oneiric Beta 2 on another computer and encountered the same issue.

I can't reproduce this bug here (running unity 4.22.0-0ubuntu3). Could someone confirm that this bug is fixed?

This happens always here, not only at the first login.

Changing the keyboard shortcut for "Show the run command prompt" does not help, either. I tried setting it to something else, like Ctrl+Alt+F2, but when I then use that combination, nothing at all happens. Alt+F2 still shows the Dash. I conclude that the shortcut for "Show the run command prompt" is not caught at all when pressed.

This only happens on Oneiric, not on Natty.

Is that still an issue in Precise?

Weird! I see this in Ubuntu 12.04, on the 3D version of Unity only (not the 2D version).

I wonder if it's timing related, i.e. you have to hit alt+f2 quite soon after logging in, to see this.

Note, this is present for me in 12.04 and quantal (see bug 1045843).
Both seem to not have anything to do with how long after login, but rather the first press of alt-f2 is guaranteed to show the dash and not the run command prompt.
