Bug Description

When I attach a second monitor, the only thing that displays on it is the panel. The rest of the screen is black.
Additionally, there is roughly 200 pixels of black on the first monitor.

This does not happen when I use the same settings under another window manager (tested sawfish).

I changed x resolution with xrandr of (doing so with gnome-display-properties shows same bug)
xrandr --output LVDS1 --auto --output HDMI2 --auto --right-of LVDS1

Screenshot that shows the problem. I was surprised, but this actually shows the issue perfectly.
Note, the browser is cut off above the Ubuntu logo, and is not viewable at all on the second monitor (first is 1440 wide, the left).

One other thing to note, If i press the windows key, the launcher menu goes above the black area, but then will not go away.

I have this same problem on a Dell Latitude D630 running Ubuntu 11.04.

Unity version: unity 3.8.16-0ubuntu1~natty1

Note that mirrored monitors or projectors work fine. I only have trouble when displays are not mirrored.

As requested by Jason, I logged out, logged back into "gnome" session (gnome shell) and I did not see the issue.
