Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 today and I'm using the default unity. For the first few times I logged in everything seemed normal. However after 1 or 2 logins later, the task launcher at the left hand side of the screen (and the top bar with the log out / me menu) didn't load and were missing. I was unable to launch any programmes at all. I had to use SysReq to reboot the machine into classic mode.

Can't reproduce here, did you have any "strange" applets / things in the either the dock or menu?

Seems like Unity is crashing. Could you log into Unity, and when you get a blank desktop, press Ctrl+Alt+F2, login there on the text console, and type >> cp .xsession-errors xsession-errors-for-bug << , then type >> sudo service gdm restart << and login to Classic Desktop, and then attach the xsession-errors-for-bug file found in your home directory, to this bug? Thanks!
