Bug Description
Binary package hint: unity
1) Open the gnome keyboard preferences
2) change the "Lock screen" action and hit windows+l.
3) Shortcut now shown as "Mod4+L"
4) click close.
5) Try to use the new keystroke, nothing happens
keep trying, sometimes unity shows its applications menu. It is apparently eating the key stroke and not allowing the gnome shortcuts to see the key press.

Work-around:
1) Go into unity config (alt+f2 > about:config).
2) Change the "Key to show the launcher" from "<Super>" to "<Super>u".
3) Try again, gnome correctly locks the screen
