Bug Description

Top Panel distorts after using Enhanced Desktop Zoom. When you zoom in, the top panel appears to be fine, but when you zoom out, it is completely distorted. It's still clickable and useable ( clicking the far right will bring up the log out / shut down menu, for example ), but visually scambled. See screenshot named "unity-zoomed-out".

It still isn't perfect, however, even when you zoom in. The top panel appears visually fine, but there are missing icons. Note, for example, the skype icon in the "unity-zoomed-out" screenshot - it is missing in the unity-zoomed-in screenshot.

I have a Nvidia for graphics; I'm using Nvidia driver 703. Let me know what more I can provide.

This *may* be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/762247 but the screenshots did not quite match what I am seeing. Comment 6 of the same bug report, however, does appear to be this same issue.

The same happens when you just use "Zoom Desktop," not just the "Enhanced" effect.

I can confirm this bug. In my case the panel gets black, but it is definitely the same bug.

In fact, this is the main bug I have with Unity right now. Since my laptop natural resolution is very high I need the zoom functionality a lot (I have increased the font dpi, but java apps, for instance, don't seem to respect that).

I tested all zoom plugins provided by compiz ("Zoom Desktop", "Enhanced Zoom Desktop" and the "Magnifier" plugins) and all of them result in the bug.
