Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

In Natty, latest upgrade,

After switching back and forth between applications, some have global menu (firefox, gedit, ...), other not (freemind, ...), the display is shifted a few pixels, and display and mouse "disagree" on where the buttons are.

So the result is :
- gedit is the window that has focus
- it is supposed to be maximized
- the global-menu is working
- BUT the window itself is shifted to the bottom of the screen : display
- AND the mouse is not shifted the the bottom, so I have to click some pixel up the click on a button or to select text.

I can't reproduce it on a regular basis, it happens sometimes. I'm conscious that this will be hard to fix, but wanted to report as it is clearly a bug.

Happened once again today (with unity 3.8.8-0ubuntu1).

- evolution minimized in launcher
- click on a mailbox in mail indicator
- evolution window shows, but is shifted by a few pixel (probably corresponding to the top window decoration)
- mouse does not know the window is shifted, meaning that I have to click some pixels up to click a button

Are you able to reproduce this reliably? I've been trying to for a
while here ...

If you are, I'd like to be able to chat to you some time to debug this one.

I'm not yet able to reproduce on demand... I'll spend some more time to find a path that triggers the bug and tell you.

I also face this issue regularly, looking into steps to reproduce the
issue, if I find any.

I have the steps.

0. Open gwibber to start with..
1. open chromium, maximize it
2. open nautilus, mazimize it
3. minimize chromium
4. minimize nautilus
5. come to gwibber and click on a link it in to open the web browser(chromium).

Even simplier steps, not involving any "non standard" application :

1) open evolution
2) minimize it
3) open any other app (nautilus or firefox for example)
4) minimize it
5) go back to evolution with message indicator

lso works with gedit and text file on the desktop :

1) open gedit
2) minimize it
3) open any other app (nautilus or firefox for example)
4) minimize it
5) go back to gedit by clicking on a text file on the desktop

I would just like to add that when the bug happens, if I "restore" Evolution, maximize it again, and minimize it.
The problem is fixed for my entire session.
And indicator seems to trigger the bug more often than normal window browsing.

I rather ironically saw this when trying to open a link to the picture of the issue attached above; see attached. I most commonly see it when opening links in other applications, ie when something un-minimises the chromium window for me.

So now that Natty is out, will fixes for this kind of non blocking (but quite ugly) bugs go into natty, or will it be shipped in natty+1 only ?
