Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

I have an Opera icon permanently on Unity's launcher. If I start Opera then another icon appears, that of the Opera Widget Manager. The small arrow that indicates an application is active shows on OWM's icon and if I minimize Opera and want to restore it then I must use the OWM icon. The main Opera icon shows no such indicator at all and although it "pulsates" when clicked it doesn't seem to perform any other function apart from starting Opera initially.

Just updated Unity to 3.8.4 and same result - the OWM icon is active rather then the Opera icon.

Isn't the problem in the bamfdaemon? It's what is used to match windows to desktop files (and icons).
I checked using D-Feet and it's showing opera-widget-installer as desktop file.

As a workaround, uncommend 'TryExec' line in '/usr/share/applications/opera-widget-installer.desktop' as it's the same as in the 'opera-browser.desktop' file.

This bug still affects me with freshly updated ubuntu natty beta 1. Version of bamfdaemon is 0.2.84-0ubuntu2 and opera is 11.01.1190. Also, there is no 'TryExec' line in '/usr/share/applications/opera-widget-installer.desktop' - this is only a shortcut to the command '/usr/bin/opera -widget %f' so the proposed workaround doesn't work for me.

Found the TryExec-line in the desktop-file (didn't realize it was a text-file), but commenting it out didn't help. Sorry for the extra comment, but I can't find a way to edit/delete my previous one.

Confirmed, the workaround doesn't seem to work anymore.

I'm not too sure that this line in opera-browser.desktop is appreciated so to speak (remove it and see

Commenting out StartupWMClass=opera did the trick for me. Had to remove the old launcher, but now it works like it should again :)

Just to note that this is no longer an issue with fresh beta 2 updated installs, though is with older updated installs
So in essence it's been fixed

This is not a problem anymore.
I purged opera, downloaded it and installed it.
Now the opera icon is showing and not the opera widget icon when running opera.

Commenting out "StartupWMClass=opera" in /usr/share/applications/opera-browser.desktop did the trick.
Had to log out and in and reattach opera to unity launcher, but now it works like it should again.

Today, 13th May, I saw this bug happening in my computer and I thought it was fixed.
I used gnome for a few days, then when I tried Unity for the first time, there it was Opera Widget Installer's icon instead of Opera.
