Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

I just came back from dinner and noticed that all of a sudden the indicator area appeared shifted to the right, so that the right hand portion got cut off. I. e. the session indicator is now completely invisible, and there's a piece missing from the me menu as well. I attach a screenshot from the top right corner of my screen.

It was fine before dinner, and I left the computer and session running; I just turned off my external screen during dinner.

In the mornings I always boot into my session and then disable the internal LVDS with "xrandr --output LVDS1 --off", so that (1) it doesn't need to be on all the time, and (2) I avoid weird effects due to the smaller resolution of the internal screen. But xrandr configuration didn't change when the bug happened.

Also, both my external and internal screens are 1280 pixels wide, so I doubt it's related to the horizontal resolution. (Vertical: 1024 external, 800 internal).

This is hard to reproduce unfortunatly. I noticed it a couple of times now, but so far I don't have a recipe for it yet. I'll try harder to reproduce it. Is there any log files etc. which don't already get attached by apport which might be useful?

When doing the screenshot I went to the session menu with the keyboard, so it's still alive.

Hey Martin, can you post your .xession-errors? (I should attach it even when we have no graphical issue in fact). We have a warning there on screen size change (if something wrong happened related to that).

Apport hook for X.org is currently broken, attaching xsession-errors manually.
