compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in sigc::signal_base::impl()

Binary package hint: unity

I was just changing choices and the screen goes weird (flashes) then goes to where my choice was.

as an aside to Compiz, why is the Special effects missing in Appearances? I'd like to possibly turn off Compiz.
