Bug Description

Lenses: different type of views can help with browsing large number of items.

-List view in particular is very effective and used in a number of applications including nautilus, music apps and traditional menus (gnome, kde, windows, mint, etc.). Useful for a number of different lenses.

-Zoom in and out (show more / less). Zooming out would allow to make the icons smaller and show a bigger number of results. Default would be 48px icons like on the launcher for the apps lens. Could be part of the filters or an alternative view. Zooming In on the other hand is useful for showing thumbnails of files, pictures, music, video, etc. in their respective lenses.

-Askubuntu lens: a better view for these type of search results because of text strings being limited to the size of the icon in icon view.

This is much, much worse on Unity-2D.

I think a more horizontal view would make certain lenses more useful when they have more text data to display. Here's a similar view from xbmc that could be an inspiration (see attachment)

Yes, I think this is interesting, and timeous. Bringing it to John Lea's
attention. Thanks for the suggestion!

It is indeed worse in Unity 2D where only one line of text per item is allowed. 2 lines has not been implemented yet as per bug #632526

I would love to see a vertical split screen view:

left column:
icon + title

right column
text

Lenses with a lot of information like the movie lens or people lens would benefit highly from a split screen view.

As part of the big bug review for 16.04 LTS I have tested this on 15.10 and the bug is still there. I think this is a feature request rather than a bug.
