Bug Description

It's impossible to access panel widgets(sound menu, session and others) using keyboard. Gnome panel has <Super><m> and <Super><s> shortcuts for these purposes, but unity panel doesn't (or i don't know about that).

It's F10, although it will be changed soon, as this F10 conflicts with some apps

It will be cool to make it configurable. Furthermore, i think that widgets like sound menu and session menu - are very differs from application menu. So maybe they( app menu and widgets like sound menu) should have different keyboard access keys.

saksmlz:
You can access the panel menu items with the keyboard.
You can configure the shortcut (CompizConfig Settings Manager > Ubuntu Unity Plugin > Behaviour > Key to open the first panel menu).
But you cannot have different shortcuts for the app menu and panel menus.

Do you want to change this bug to a feature request to add an independent panel menu shortcut? Otherwise, can't this be marked as Invalid?

Thanks a lot. This custom shortcut can be pretty usefull. But it will be really cool to have opportunity to bind user defined shortcuts to any indicator.

I understand that it not so easy to implement and likely indicators don't have such API now. So it can require some great work, but i think it can be very usefull feature.

What do you think?

Unity handles these keybindings. Also, your question is about all indicators, not just indicator-sound. So, this bug is invalid for indicator-sound.
