Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Since I installed the latest set of updates to Natty, the Unity launcher keeps flickering in and out when it's supposed to be visible. It's like it tries to slide in and then realises it should be visible and pops out again. This happens when there are either no apps open, or you click the Ubuntu button. When you hover over the Ubuntu button there is a different (but also broken) behaviour; the bar is static (not flickering) but never reaches full opacity and is offset slightly off-screen horizontally (as if it's 90% of the way to sliding in fully).

Here's a video of the flickering behaviour:

You can logout/login to workaround the issue meanwhile (I got it once over 6 startups)
