Bug Description

I installed UNE Maverick (Final release) on my Asus Eepc 1005PE and it is nothing short of a mess. Where do I begin?

- Severe performance issues with Unity: When clicking on the Applications button it often takes a lot of time until the shell loads. Working quick on UNE is therefore basically impossible. The time I have to wait for the shell to load seems random to me, sometimes it loads faster, sometimes slower, but in any case it's just a pain.
I had UNE Beta 2 installed on this very same Netbook too weeks ago just to test it an experienced the same performance issues. Since it was a beta release I expected it to be slower, but it seems performance wasn't improved at all in the final release.

- Unity crashes when exiting Firefox 4.0 beta: I have a habit of testing beta software and installed Firefox 4.0 from the mozilla daily repos. Everytime I exit, the whole screen goes black and re-appears again. UNE beta did the same thing regularly with all kinds of programs and every time I got an error message that Mutter crashes. UNE Final still does that for me with Firefox 4.0, the only difference is, I don't get an error message afterwards - but I know the symptom from when I tested UNE beta.
It seems to me some crashes were'nt fixed, only the error messages were suppressed.
I know that fiddling around with betas means having more problems, but my Firefox being a prerelease version shouldn't have any effect on the whole of the system. Imagine the Gnome interface crashing desktop edition just because you run Firefox beta - unthinkable.

- Software Center takes ages to load: It takes ages to start up, which you especially notice when trying to install a deb file. It takes VERY long to load a deb file, again, making quick work on UNE basically impossible.

- Ubuntu Netbook Maverick FREEZES!: It froze for me on three different occasions. Twice with Ubuntu Tweak and once with Chrome. See this bug report for the Chrome issue (the freezing in mentioned in teh comments section): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/657941
I first thought, that the problem is that I have the Ubuntu Tweak testing repo and therefore maybe having a prerelease Ubuntu Tweak. But then Chrome froze too.
When Ubuntu Tweak froze twice, I could at least acces the functions in the Unity sidebar and the top panel, but when Chrome froze everything froze, the sidebar and the top panel - nothing moved, nothing accessable.

I have an ASUS Eepc 1005PE
Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N450 @ 1.66GHz
2003 MiB Memory
Ubuntu Netbook Edition Maverick - downloaded on the 10.10.2010

By the way, Sysinfo just crashed on me twice while I was checking my system information - Unity is unusable for me.
