Bug Description
Binary package hint: unity
ignore the first update to -proposed, I just saw the root cause: I wrongly merged back the lucid UNE ppa branch to the maverick one (I kept them on purpose because, of those two changed :/ Not sure when I wrongly pushed it…)
unity (0.2.46-0ubuntu5) maverick-proposed; urgency=low
* Revert to maverick branch
(lucid une ppa branch wrongly merged in this one):
+ debian/control:
- Readd netbook-launcher transitional package, this is needed for people
not having ubuntu-netbook installed on dist-upgrade to be
- recommends ubuntu-
Test case:
be on an UNE install with lucid, try to update to maverick with maverick-proposed pocket enabled.
On reboot, you should have unity installed in the UNE session.
-----------
After upgrading from 10.04 UNE to 10.10, Unity is not loaded. All that I can see is the wallpaper, no icons, no interface. I just can shut down by pressing power button.
I start Unity from the gdm-login via the session selector.
If I choose the desktop version, it works.
If I choose the Netbook 2D version, it works.
To solve my problem, I have started a desktop version and tape :
sudo apt-install unity
Now, it works really as it should.
I think this is the same as bug 644899 and bug 628828

This isn't really the same as the bug you suggested as those are driver issues.
It seems from you what you tell that unity wasn't install for you, even if you had 10.04 UNE. However, we made several update tests with different configuration and it was working.
Can you try apt-cache policy netbook-launcher, please?
