Bug Description

https://askubuntu.com/questions/904594/having-trouble-with-hidpi-scaling-in-zesty

On Ubuntu 16.04 default packages,I set my scale to 1.5, it works fine with my WQHD Screen (2550 X 1440),But after some updates, Set scale to 1.5 will make all UI to 2x.

2X scaling is too big for my screen, Now I can only set it to 1.38 but font is a bit small.

I saw chagelog on this:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/7.5.0+17.04.20161130-0ubuntu1

It said there are many HIDPI improvements in new version Unity, maybe this is a bug.

Ubuntu Unity is the ONLY DE which can handle fractional scale with multi monitor, Hope you guys look into this and bring 1.5x back.

Same issue for me here, in my case I used 1.75 or 1.88 for my 3200x1800 screen (xps 15 2013). I keep my 16.04 64bit system very updated, so this update was probably installed in the last two or three days. Since then, every time I try to scale 1.5 or more, the UI gets 2X. 1.38 is handled correctly, but it is rather small. It seems to me that beyond 1.5 only the text is resized.
