Broken icons in top panel when the session is unlocked

When a session is locked then unlocked, application icons displayed in top panel show a 'broken' icons (cf screenshot) On first login after boot the icons are displayed properly.

In the screenshot, broken icon on the left is HPlip, second one is Synology cloud sync.

This looks related to bug #1629251, I also see it for the Dropbox app-indicator. The menus of these indicators never work, not even without suspending.

Same issue with Slack and Keybase - both electron apps.

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this issue! I am only noticing it with the Slack Electron app, and it's entirely inconsistent. Sometimes it will display correctly, even after suspending/unlocking the session. I've tried logging an strace of the process, and don't see any file not found errors or anything. This is a really frustrating issue.
