Bug Description

Hi

I recently install a snap package using the desktop-launcher. I find the app in the results of the dash

Then, I remove the snap. But the app still appears in the Dash results.

I use the command : sudo update-desktop-database

To refresh the result but the app still appears.

According to Didrocks on gitter/snappy-playpen :

Didier Roche

@Winael try to run sudo update-desktop-database
ah, it doesn't look at the /snap dir, that's maybe the issue

I open this bug report as he asked me

Let me know if you need some more precision

Cheers
Winael

I can confirm I've seen this sometimes (and the entry sticks in unity app scope memory until next reboot), I didn't find a reproducible pattern though

is the .desktop removed from /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications when you get the issue?

Hi Sébastien

When i snap remove the package, the desktop file is removed from
/var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications. But the dash still show it in the
results.

Is there a possibility to simulate the dash through cli ? If yes it could
be easier for me to explain with command

Cheers
Winael

hum, weird. I tested here and I can see the .desktop still listed if I search directly but if I clear and try again a few seconds later the dash doesn't list it anymore. Does it go away if you search/clear and try again? How long do you wait between the removal and trying to find it in the dash?

Hi Sebastien

Two days ago i wanna use sublimetext after many days without time to work.
I found it into the dash, I click. Nothing happened. I checked my listed
snap. There were no sublime text snap. According to my history I removed it
during my last work session.

So I deduct that the icon will be here until I logout my session

Cheers
