File manager icon does not appear in unity launcher if launched as "files" application

I've unpinned all my icons from the unity launcher. I've noticed that if I search the "files" application in the dash and launch it, the application window appears but the icon does not in the launcher, whether if I search for "nautilus" in the dash and launch it, both the window and the icon appear just fine.
