Bug Description

It seems like the scrollbars should be small until I hover over them, but for me the area where the scrollbar should be hidden turns white. Everything is fine when I hover over it. I think this is the same everywhere, but it's visible in the terminal as the background is something other than plain white. Pictures attached.

I checked it on a Broadwell-U laptop too, same problem.

Tested in VirtualBox too, same problem.

Alex, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

If you are referring to the design of the scrollbar, it is as designed, as Ubuntu adopted the GNOME style of scrollbar presentation.

If you are referring to something different, then please attach a screencast of this problem as outlined in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Screencast and then mark this Status New.

I'm not sure if this belongs to gnome-terminal, xorg or something else, but it's not as designed.

Look at my first attachment "White strange scrollbar".

The scrollbars was changed in 15.10, but in 15.10 they worked. Look at the image, the area beside and above the scrollbar is white/grey when it should match the terminal color and transparcency.

Works in 15.10, but not in 16.04.

Alex, what I do notice is that the color of the scrollbar changes between your two pictures. However, I'm not ahead of if this is as designed behavior for this release (i.e. not a regression, but a feature change).

Despite this, it wouldn't appear to be an xorg issue here, as suggested by how you have found this across your disparate hardware.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → unity (Ubuntu)
